Mortarboard Gift Box

You will need:

• Joy® Iron-On letter sheet - Gold
• Kunin®  9" x 12" Felt - Black or school colors
• Embroidery floss 
• Cheese box (4 1/2" diameter, or similar) 
• Button*
• Paint* 
• Gold wire
• White glue
• Craft iron
• Hot glue and glue gun
• Scissors, paintbrush

* Choose your school colors!

1.  Cut an 8" square of felt.  For an even sturdier top, cut two squares and glue together. If you have a smaller box, adjust the size of the squares as needed. 2.  Cut felt strips to cover the sides of the top of the box.  Adhere with the glue gun.  Paint the sides of the bottom of the box.  Line or paint inside of box if desired. 3.  Pull 10" of floss from the skein and tie through the loops at the top of the skein and knot the ends. Slide the paper band down slightly then wrap a short length of wire around the floss about 1/2" from the top. Glue the knot at the back of the button.  Slide the band off skein and cut ends to create the tassel. 4.  Position the letters for your message on the top of the felt square then adhere following manufacturer's directions on the back of the package. 5.  With glue gun, adhere square to top of box and button to center of square.
