It's a Holly Jolly Christmas!
Use leftover metal jar lids and gingerbread cookie cutters to create a jolly Christmas garland to dress up your fireplace mantel for the holidays!
You will need: Joy® Iron-on Embroidered Letter sheet - White Joy® Embroidered Stars - 2 Metal quart Jar lids (ring and disc) - 7 (one per letter + 2 for stars) Metal Gingerbread Cookie Cutters - 8 Red Burlap - 1/4 yd, or wide burlap ribbon Kraft wrapping paper 1/2" Natural Burlap trim Glitter - white Tacky glue 5/8" Christmas print ribbon 3 ply jute cord Deflecto® Sign & banner hangers Scissors Glue gun and glue sticks Disposable plastic bowls
1. Cut a piece of burlap and a piece of Kraft paper slightly larger than the metal sealer inside the jar lid. Place the paper, then the burlap over the top of the metal disk and push into the lid (ring) with the burlap showing through the top. Trim away excess burlap and paper from the inside of the lid.
2. Glue trim around the outside of each jar lid then add the letters and stars to the center of each lid. Add glitter around the top rim of the lid and to the inside and outside of the gingerbread cookie cutters.
3. Glue a banner hanger at the top of each lid and cookie cutter, or create a hanger with a loop of the burlap trim. Make sure the hanger is in line with the top of each letter so the lids and cookie cutters will hang straight!
4. Arrange the lids and cookie cutters in order, then thread the jute cording through the hangers, leaving extra at each end to attach the garland to the mantel. Tie a 6" piece of ribbon, fabric or felt strip between each lid and cookie cutter to finish.
Have a wonderful holiday season and may the year ahead be a blessed one!
